Open Gates

You say that Heaven's gates are made of pearl.
And dream has gates of ivory and of horn.
You claim that gates to Hell fill all the world.
You passed through one the minute you were born.

What door could let the sunlight in at morn?
What fence could hold the stars back from the sky?
What wall keeps me apart from those I mourn?
What veil hides living Truth from searching eyes?

Perhaps in time you'll come to realize
We live in limitless, unbounded space.
All gates and doors and walls are just disguise,
You'll turn a corner and come face to Face.

Remember that your Lover waits outside,
And every gate for you stands open wide.
