Blue Horse

Last night I dreamed of a blue horse.
Her hooves were daggers of turquoise
and sapphires fell from her mane.
Vega in Lyra burned in her eye.
She canters through fields of shadow.
She burns with the fires of sorrow.
She kneels to drink at the Hippocrene
scattering drops of sky-mirrored water.
Her hooves beat a drumroll, untiring
over grass that is grey as the evening
over rocks that are whiter than bone.
Blue horse, where are you going?
Deep in the earth where the stars sleep
drowned in the shivering wind.

Hello - I'm not sure I've seen you on the Poetry Train before. Thanks for the intro to Poefusion - I like poetry games so might try the 5 Word Friday exercise.

I like the sound and rhythm of the last lines:
Deep in the earth where the stars sleep
drowned in the shivering wind.

According to Freud, dreaming of horses symbolizes the sexual drive. (surprise, surprise!)

I liked the use of color.
And of course, the blue horse.

I think this has become my favorite of your poems, to date. You could use this as a start for my Monday Mural this week. Beautiful. Keep up the good work.

Loved the whole poem, but those lines really set a powerful image for me.
