Wearing Rain

I own no coins of silver
I own no cloth of gold
I have no jewels shining in my hair
There's nothing I can keep myself
There's nothing I can hold
God gives me rain to wear.

Some folk go clad in dirty rags
And some in velvet shoes
And some are dressed in linen, lily-fair
I comb the clouds for clothing
and weave my dress from dew
God gives me rain to wear.

And never was anyone or anything more finely arrayed. Lovely poem.
