Marcel Marceau

1923 - 2007

“In silence and movement you can show the reflection of people.”
— Marcel Marceau

a rescuer of children from
a war against their mere existence
a refugee from Nazi drums
a hero of the French Resistance
whose hands could shape a thousand parts
in intimate and wordless distance
who framed the dark of human hearts
in faces white as innocence
who made himself the world’s mirror
in silent moving eloquence
who offered self-perception, clearer
than spoken shared experience
reflecting sorrow, mirth, surprise
a moving mirror for our eyes.

Love the layers of inner strength building to a climax! To the final "moving mirror"! Powerful!

Wonderfully done. He was even the illusion of a different and "normal" life. Behind the facade was the ugly truth of what he had to live through.
