Morning Mood

All night that mean wind howled round the house
rain pitter-pattered in the gutters,
splattered on the windowpane. Morning
wind dies down to mutters punctuated
by the caws of crows.
Now the tree leaves hiss and whisper
shifting overhead and dropping
water plopping on the sidewalks where my
boot
heels
ring.

Morning Mood is the title of a piece from the Peer Gynt suites composed by Edvard Grieg, for Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt.

Great sounds there and the three final lines are a perfect stop. Nice!

A wonderful piece of writing, I loved it!

I was inspired this week by much the same weather and ended up writing two poems.

Ah, we both hissed, and whispered -- that kind of weather, I guess. Yours is more fun, though.

Wonderful images and rhythms, too. I can hear and feel Portland weather.
