Sapphire

Sapphire stained-glass window scene
sky and seawater meet in blue
under an arch of rock and dream.

Come to the end of every stream
walk with me as I wander through
a sapphire stained-glass window scene.

Tidepools linger where waves have been
feathers fall where the seagulls flew
under an arch of rock and dream.

Jewels are dimmer than water’s gleam
paint’s too dark to capture a true
sapphire stained-glass window scene.

Light both brilliant and serene
falls on the shore and on me and you
under an arch of rock and dream.

Love, hold my hand and let us lean
on stone and treasure this water-view:
sapphire stained-glass window scene
under an arch of rock and dream.

I'm glad you're able to write a villanelle. I really love some of the word choices you have in the poem like: "an arch of rock and dream". I mean, if you just take that phrase by itself, it could be interpreted as "living the dream-life of rock and roll". LOL. But it's lovely though; I see more than one ways to interpret.

Your use of alliteration in several places makes the entire poem very soothing.

Thanks for sharing, and welcome to Cafe Writing!

Your poem seems perfect for the picture! The words flow very smoothly. The below lines re my favorite, they are symbolic with the picture!

Light both brilliant and serene
falls on the shore and on me and you
under an arch of rock and dream
