Undiscovered Treasure

"I was a hidden treasure and I wished to be known, so I created the world." - Hadith Qudsi

At the center of the earth lies an undiscovered treasure,
the blackness of space hides an undiscovered treasure.

On the salt flats the wind scribes mysterious cartography
describing the path to the undiscovered treasure.

The dawn sky is scribbled with calligraphic scarlet
clouds spelling the Name of the undiscovered treasure.

Joyful water throws itself from a stony height
singing the praises of the undiscovered treasure.

Lumbering bison raise clouds of dust all across the prairie
patient trekkers on the road towards undiscovered treasure.

The soul yokes wonder and sorrow to its chariot
and flies off in search of the undiscovered treasure.

The heart burns and turns like a sunflower's head
marking the direction of its undiscovered treasure.

My God, that is beautiful. It made my heart beat faster with the perfection of it.

'The dawn sky is scribbled with calligraphic scarlet

Oh, so beautiful.

this reminds me of the mystical tales told in ages gone by to explain man and earth and life and such... i wonder sometime if the "holy men" that wrote the "holy books" knew what a mess they were creating when they took away such beautiful visions like this and replaced it with commandments and retribution and one true way....

very thought provoking post tiel..

ps: i wrote that comment on TOP in the middle of my sleep,, i got up to let the dogs out and posted... what a mistake.. nearly everything is misspelled!!!!!!

I am very happy that this poem is no longer "undiscovered"! I can't stop reading it.

Your poem becomes yet another banner/sign along the road towards the undiscovered treasure. That's exiting!

A beautiful ghazal. The last two couplets are my favorites:

The soul yokes wonder and sorrow to its chariot
and flies off in search of the undiscovered treasure.

The heart burns and turns like a sunflower's head
marking the direction of its undiscovered treasure.

So wonderful. For some reason, this incited in me a brief fantasy that perhaps we *are* evolving to some next level, and the step up is -- poetry.

I must learn about ghazals.
