Deep-Dish Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

She put the deep-dish
pineapple upside-down cake
in to bake; went to blow-dry her hair
and moisten her skin.
Outside in the summer heat
water streamed from a hose
into pots full of silk plants.
Then she got in her car
reset the odometer to all zeroes
and drove off leaving the cake to scorch
the pots to overflow
the blow-dryer to burn the house down.

I like the way you construct in order to tear down, so to speak, baking a cake, moistening her skin, watering the plants - but sets the trip meter to destruction: cake scorched, pots overflowing, and the house burnt down.

I like it! Mine originally had a pineapple upside-down cake, but I had to change it because I couldn't make it scan. Your whole scene is delicious.

I like it! It will be interesting to see how many of us will use the image of pineapple upside down cake! You and I had several similar phrases even though the poems are very different. The fun of the Wordle!!

I didn't do the Wordle, had a bit of distraction this past week. But, I love what you did with it. Such a fine line between sanity, order, and total chaos. You found that line and more.

I've looked at this both as premeditation and as impulse. Not sure which I like best

I like the idea that rotates around "upside down" -- the hinge (watering silk plants) caught me just right.
