This week's idea from Poetry Thursday: Blue.
“Look. Don’t touch.” It’s a fragile world
of arched zig-zag bridges between tall pagodas.
There she is, the original China Girl
waiting with face averted and slumping shoulders
for her lover. There may be birds above,
willows by the shore, perhaps a peony,
but all are background for this tragic love.
Even the carp represents its memory.
If there are men on the bridge, they pursue
the fleeing lovers who tried to grasp too much
happiness within their little world of blue.
Porcelain hearts break easily— look, don’t touch.
