Holiday Debris

I'm wrapping up and taking things apart,
disassembling holiday debris
and waiting for another year to start.

The house looks like a gift shop/mini-mart
with presents strewn around, and two or three
still wrapped up, while I'm taking things apart

to put away till next year. There's an art
in storing stuff out of the way, yet free
for use another year. But where to start,

as our last festive visitors depart?
It's late, I'm tired. I swear I thought that we
would never wrap up. Things I've taken part

in lately seem to spiral off the chart,
get out of hand and leave me all at sea.
Another year, I'll know how not to start

and this is all the wisdom I'll impart:
make simple plans for your festivity,
don't gift-wrap things, but play a cheerful part
and this year, make each day another start.

Ahhh, that's my big to do for tomorrow...time to take all the holiday decorations down, organize the toys the kids received.
Cute poem!
