Wind Instruments

"The grace of God is a wind which is always blowing." --Ramakrishna

singing harp in high-tension lines
humming over the neck of an empty bottle
murmuring among broken desert stones
whispering prayers in drifts of dead leaves.
Rattling the panes of closed windows
throwing them open with a joyful shout! So what
if a little rain blows in?

This room is comfy
--but it's too quiet. No air stirs
the heavy drapes. Carpet muffles
every step. Paint seals the edges
of the windows. I dream of arches,
arcades, pillars, porticos and patios
lanais and breezy balconies.

If I were a harmonica
I'd ask you to hold me high
and let me whistle.

Collection available! Knocking from Inside
