For Pesach-- with thanks to the Velveteen Rabbi.
Echoes only tell you what you know
Mirrors have nothing new to show
Listen to the thunder and the rain
outside your head, outside your fence of pain.
Walls can keep you safe, but keep you still
Rooms are warm, but can't keep out the chill
Something must be lost to make some gain
outside your head, outside your fence of pain.
Iron bars and thorns like razor-wire
stand between you and the holy fire.
Smoky pillars stride the distant plains
outside your head, outside your fence of pain.
Choose surrender, choose freedom again
outside your head, outside your fence of pain.
