We’re studying the sky, on watch for warmer weather,
waiting for the wind to die, for frost to fade at last.
Standing on streetcorners, huddled close together,
we’re studying the sky, on watch for warmer weather.
The chickadees are chucking out the moss and fraying feathers
from nests to be renewed. We’re letting go the past.
We’re studying the sky, on watch for warmer weather,
waiting for the wind to die, for frost to fade at last.
