Look, on the southern horizon
the terrible grey lions with shining white manes
rise and spread their claws. Soon they’ll fall
on the hapless city, with whips of hail
and shake the buildings with their roaring
then grumble off to northward
with shreds of umbrella fabric
stuck between their teeth.
