I stood in the embrace of a tree
and beyond the cliffs, dawn was lying
silver on the salt water.
Darkness lifted from the air.
Had I truly been praying all night? It seemed
only a minute had passed.
Traffic ran on the roads
as I came down from the high place
with leaves in my hair
and branches still woven
through my flesh. White flowers glowed
in my sight alone.
