The similitude of His light is as a niche wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a shining star.
The Holy Qur'an, XXIV: 35 (Pickthall trans.)
God is written in your heart
like a message in a bottle.
God lives within your soul
like the flame in a lamp.
What good is a lamp with a blackened chimney?
What good is a message
in a sealed bottle? Pull out the cork,
give that message some air!
Maybe it will burst into flame and you will become a Tiffany stained-glass lamp
Maybe it will grow into a bunch of roses and make you into a vase
Maybe it will turn into wind that blows across the mouth of your soul and makes you sing
praise God, praise God
I am an empty vessel, praise God.

Wonderful use of the prompt, I agree with you its within us, just need to clean up the chimney to let the pure out.
Oh, this is so beautiful -- I love the quote that begins it. What a great poem for the prompt!
Fine, as usual. The flow and line breaks you've used are original and the words are descriptive and image-full.
