An old man prepares for a journey,
down at the dock.

What about your luggage?

I don't need it.

What about your boat?

Oh, nobody needs one of those.

What about the ocean?

There is no need for that either.

It looks like sleep,
but it's really waking.

I have always had a fondness for characters like this, seers if you like, who look at the world a little off-kilter. Nice poem.

Is the end really the end? Or simply a new beginning? Nicely written. Very thought provoking.

Love how, in simple dialogue, all worldly values, realities and perceptions are cast aside, waiting to waken into new impulses.

Lovely!

Indeed, life is a series of coming and going, of departures and arrivals, of falling asleep and awakening. Death is a part of life, an unknown beginning of life after death.

Very interesting thoughts on death and dying, and awakening.

I wish you well.

Fine poem. I am informed they have sent your book, so I should be getting it in a few days. I can hardly wait....

Soft, wistful, philosophical even. I enjoyed this.

It was very poignant and powerful that he cast off all his worldly goods before his moment of awakening. An uplifting piece.

Just a beautiful statement to your grandfather. So many times in this world we never get to speak or even think of this image. I have always felt a great pull to write about passing. Beautiful work.
