Cherry Stone

Cherry trees crack in the storm
bearing the brunt of foul weather. I stand
on the stoop searching my pockets
for a key I’ve long since discarded.
Ice rims the jamb. The door is sealed
tight as a cherry stone.

Poefusion: brunt, crack, key, cherry, discard
Sunday Scribblings: foul

So many of us are experiencing foul weather right now -- can really relate. Well written!

These winter truths are the pits. I could see this picture! Nice!

Enjoyed this one especially the strong syllables:

crack / brunt / stoop / key / rims / tight

and the lovely sentence: " Ice rims the jamb."

What a wonderful use of the prompt and the bad weather we seem to be experiencing right now. The line ice rims the jamb is my favorite. Have a nice weekend.

Many images of being shut out. Nice use of tight spaces.

I've stood outside that door, keyless, so many times! Love this!

Sat here freezing. Gales subsided. Missed most of the snow - for now.
I sympathise with the cherry tree :-)

I like "tight as a cherry stone" very much.
