Teeth

for Sunday Scribblings

how horrible to know
that they’ll outlive me. long after
my accomplishments have been reduced to dust—
books of poetry, memories of friends and lovers, all my life’s work
grist for the mills of forgetting: there they’ll be
for some twenty-seventh century
anthropologist to dig up

and declare: “She didn’t floss.”

I love it. You say a lot in so few words, and the ending makes everything so apparent. Great work.

They'll be saying the same thing when they dig my teeth up! I hate to floss! This is too funny! love it!

LOL - yes, the "you don't floss" reprimand.

Liked this - except half of mine have already failed to out live me :-)

You're sure about the 27th century? :)

Love the poem as well as some of the comments it elicited.

This one made me laugh when I got to "She didn't floss."

By the way, I failed to get your Six-Word Memoir posted at Weekend Wordsmith (sorry), so today I went back and put it first, where it belonged:
