Tetris Nightmare

As it was in the 80's. If you don't remember it, this may not make much sense.

When music starts to play I see the blocks
of tenements in geometric shapes
fall from the grayscale sky with seismic shocks.
Nowhere to run. Cannot find the escape
key. Rotate next one clockwise—there’s a gap—
but people tumble from their windows, screaming,
upside down while tangled curtains flap.
Oh please, God, let it be that I am dreaming!
Trapped behind a wall of blocks that’s stacking
overhead, each one just out of place
and threatening collapse. My nerve is cracking.
They’re falling faster. Music sets the pace.
I can’t wake up or even slow the notes. Man,
I’ll never make it to the “Volga Boatman”.

How fun! Then again, I was a self-professed Tetris addict, so I get it!
