A cocktail party drawn in classic black
and white. A charcoal guy, acrylic gal—
is she his lover, could he be her pal?—
incline their heads and shout above the back-
ground noise. "A Modernist? He's just a flack!"
"Where have you been? I haven't tried to call—"
"New gallery, just opened on the Mall—"
"My dear, this wine has simply no attack."
Where stylish figures strive to reacquaint
themselves with shifting social constellations,
echoing intimate conversations
drifting aimless round the marble hall.
While no-one looks at the museum wall
where silent figures loom in ochre paint.

I like the idea of the museum wall, they're certainly in some sort of treasure trove.

Really great. And I like the point about ignoring the art -- so true.
