Skywriting

And this is generosity:
a flash of color bright as flame
from every leaf on every tree.

The rain strings diamond filigree
from broken twig to window-frame
and this is generosity.

The maples spread their tapestry
of autumn hues, no two the same
on every leaf, on every tree.

And written in the sky, I see
a message rainbowed clouds proclaim:
that this is generosity

a gift to you, a gift to me
express-delivered. This gift came
from every leaf on every tree.

And all of this is ours for free
so, grateful heart, I praise the Name
for boundless generosity
in every leaf, on every tree.

What a beautiful poem...so perfectly in tune with the world around us. If I may be so bold as to suggest that it supports - wonderfully - this week's "autumn" theme over on my blog. Your words are, quite frankly, photographic in their clarity and power.

Gorgeous poem about my favorite season of all.

You use forms so well, and this is no exception. Beautifully done.

As I was reading this, I knew there were repetitions but they blended in so well and appeared so fresh each time, that I barely knew this was a villanelle.
