Three world-weary sisters sit in the anteroom
of a Hollywood talent agency, crunching Cocoa-Puffs
and dissing the family fortunes. One says
she'll get married to a guy she knows. One says
she'll become a fashion model and make tons of money. One says
she'll be an ESL teacher.
It's so important to have work.
There are no lace curtains anywhere in sight
and the orchards they remember are orange
not cherry. But it's still Chekhov--
barrio style.
