David Vest on Piano

He made it thunder. He made it rain

Made a whistle to follow the train

First the thunder, then the rain.

They tell us we should live for gain

But poor folks lose at rich men’s games

After thunder follows rain.

The moon is red with a gunsmoke stain

A brother’s dead, and who’s to blame?

First comes thunder, then comes rain.

Black-and-white, these keys and chains

Black and white got to share this pain

After thunder comes the rain.

Lightning strikes and it sets a flame

When hate’s defeated, love remains

Comes an end to sorrow’s reign.

In other blues news... WHEREAS, Buddy Guy has been a kick-ass blues player since God was in short pants, the City of Portland officially declared today, July 3rd 2023, to be Buddy Guy Day.

I love my town.
