Center, No Center

An arc of streetlights dwindles away
marking the edge of the avenue
like beads on a tapered necklace.

In the center, like a square-cut gem
the living-room window of my house
hanging-- just there-- over my heart.

Your house, your street, your lights,
your necklace centered over your heart.
An infinite universe can have no center

but how many hearts?
