Rain comes down and rivers overflow
Floods come down and rivers overflow
Big trees get undercut and down they go.
The lake is gone and left a giant hole
The lake is gone, left nothing but a hole
It’s hard when bodies can’t keep hold of souls.
I called the river my friend so many days
I called the lake my home so many days
So many years the floods have washed away.
Lord, this water’s hungry, cold and blind
Floodwater is hungry, cold and blind
All night I feel it rising in my mind.
