Every multiple of three has digits
that add up to another multiple of three.
You can recognize a multiple of eleven
by the twinning – 22, 33
but only up to 99.
Multiples of two are even numbers
and all end in even digits
like how certain features, a nose or chin
reappear in family portraits.
Every multiple of nine has digits
that add up to another multiple of nine.
Multiples of five must end
in five or zero.
There’s no rule for seven. No shortcut,
no distinctive feature identifies its descendants,
how does it know them?
